Below are photos of 2 of the storyboards I created during this project. I believe if I was not on this course i would never have pushed myself enough to create storyboard, and after doing so I got more insight into animations and on how to create them. Even though i did not use these in my final project they where very helpful, it got me thinking lots, it also improved my drawing skills. I found it fun to draw each scene, maybe i could like the storyboarding process better than the actual animation, I need to think about this

Sound design
I really need to think about the sound design for my animation for a number of reasons, for example , sound sets the mood of whats going on, if you had a scene from a horror film that used cheerful music, it would just make it seem odd. Music itself is something that everyone enjoys, regardless of who you are. If there was no music in the world it would be a pretty dull place.
With this in mind i need to think about how i want people to perceive my animation.
If i like the music, i'm more inclined to like whats going on.
I really like the music that they use in the film nightmare before Christmas, especially the title sequence, it really sets the mood of the film from the beginning. I will definitely try to find something along the same lines as this. I want my animation to get peoples imagination running wild, to do this I need my opening sequence to have the perfect sound.

We're going on a bear hunt
I was thinking about taking my character on an adventure and I looked at this the first adventure book for most kids my age, I used to love it, the fact of going through different environments and settings and having fun with no real aim at all is fantastic, this inspired me to make my animation adventure related, kids love a trek/quest/plain old adventure! in this book I love how everything turns out well even though they are scared of the river, grass etc. I hope I can recreate some of this spirit in my animation.

Storyboard Tutorials
Tutorial 1:
Storyboard Tutorial by Storyboard Secrets on Youtube
I watched this tutorial, it made me think a lot more about the angle of my shots, I think I need to consider drawing some different angles for instance, scene 4 could be shot looking down instead of straight on(flat). Furthermore I could add more shots to give the animation better flow, resulting in a more pleasurable experience for the viewer.
Tutorial 2: How to use an Animatic by Jazza Studios on Youtube
In this tutorial Jazza shows his finished animation alongside his animatic, the drawings are very "SIMPLISTIC", but I also noticed that I could watch the animatic and still know whats going on, in conclusion II need to add a lot more frames in my storyboard to make my animation flow better.

Character 1:Chameleon(narrator)first mood board and first concept drawing
I want this character to be very colourful unlike the lemur, I had a look at a variety of Chameleons
before creating my first concept of my one.
My 1st Design
I decided to use red in this drawing but i think i will change it as red could be seen as evil.
New Story
I have decided to use two characters, I want one of the characters to narrate/introduce my animation. I got the idea when watching Aladdin, I believe people do this as it is very "SIMPLE" yet effective and it is also a very good way to introduce a show, for instance it tells the audience whats about to happen, I believe this scene has to be very well written as it is vital as it keeps the viewer wanting more,(they want to find out what is going to happen, if it's well done).
Character Insperation
I looked at many types of lemurs
My Final Idea
Character Insperation
I looked at many types of lemurs
I really like the look of these lemurs, they come in a wide variety of colours but as bright colours are normally associated with happiness, I will not be using them on this character as I want him to come across as greedy. I will use the black and white Lemur( Ringed Tailed Lemur, from Madagascar)
What animal do i want to narrate my story?
As the Ringed tale lemur is from Madagascar I think i should use a chameleon to narrate my show. I believe that I could make a chameleon look wise as they are known for being slow, this could symbolise wisdom, for example in kung fu panda the sansei ( wisest of them all ) is a turtle.
My Final Idea
.Shot one
starts off in the top of the trees
.Shot two
A chameleon appears ( changes colour)
.Shot 3
the chameleon turns his head and starts to tell the story of how to much greed results in nothing
.Shot 4
the camera pans down the tree in a fast motion
.Shot 5
A ring tailed lemur appears out of the bush
.Shot 6
the camera follows the lemur as it runs through the forrest
.Shot 7
A shiny apple appears in the distance, (amazing fruit)
.Shot 8
the lemur runs towards it picks it up and jumps with joy
.Shot 9
he starts to juggle the apple
.Shot 10
drops the apple
.Shot 11
the apple starts to roll down a hill
.Shot 12
lemur starts running after it
.Shot 13
jumps in the air grabs it and rolls till his head is hanging over a edge of a lake
.Shot 14
he sees the reflection of the apple, and opens his mouth to grab it
.Shot 15
the apple falls into the river
shot 16
he goes to grab it again when a fish jumps out of the water and grabs it
.Shot 17
a bird swoops down and pick him up and carries him off
New idea For my Animation
I have decided to change my idea, I want my new story to be based on an Aesop's fable, I looked at a variety of them and found this story very interesting.
This story is all about how not to be greedy as all greed is good for, is nothing.
I don't want to just take this story and turn it into an animation. I just want to take the concept of this story, for example, In my animation I think there needs to be an Animal that drops a piece of food into the water, because he is greedy.
Animal ideas:
Greedy animal
1.Cat
2.Lion
3.Bear
4.Fox
5.lemur
6.Chameleon
Food for animal
1.Mouse
2.Slab of meat
3.Trout/Picnic Basket
4.Rabbit
5.Apple
6.Big bug
Out of the above I believe I will go for Lemur and an Apple.
