Adventure time

At first I wanted to create an animation that was story based, one that had a moral to it, I came up with many ideas from ones about robots to  lemurs to  penguins, they were all good ideas, yet they all missed something, this was puzzling to me, then it hit me, I could not  let my imagination run wild. All these ideas limited me to a certain type of drawing style. With this in mind I came to the conclusion that I wanted to create an animation that takes you on an adventure, one that lets your imagination run wild.
I went to London for the week to catch up with my mate, we watched tons of films on Netflix, as a good gesture he let me use his account when I got back home,
On Netflix they have many cartoons and tons of series, I started to watch all the 2d animation on there, just to come up with ideas,  I also put all my drawings up around my room.
The animation series Adventure time was the one I watched the most, I love the way the animation is simple yet very enjoyable to watch, I believe I enjoyed watching it so much for a number of reasons, for example, there are many nice colours, tons of creatures, you basically do not know what will happen next. This is something I want people to feel when watching my animation. I also want people to be wanting more, my only regret is not thinking of this before.
At this point in time I needed to get my act together so i decided to try and create a short 20 second intro animation  that takes you on a mini adventure. I did not know how to do this, but I knew what I wanted to draw. I watched the title sequence to Adventure Time again and again, just to try and workout how  they did it, I noticed that when the next object/scene comes in, they show a bit of it the same frame as the previous. I used flash to try and replicate this Below are snapshots of my go at trying to do this. I believe it came out well and has helped me think about how I want to create my animation. Below are photos of the outcome, you can see how I have used it for inspiration

Look  to the left of the photo, you can see the shot thats about to come in.
