I loved these cartoons as a kid and think that all kids can relate to the Egyptian mummies (which they also study in primary school) these simple old animations really grab my attention and while looking for inspiration I thought that a mummy character might be a great way forward. Something bizarre and fantastical but yet recognisable immediately. This character has no real features or anything, in my story sometimes the point of view is that of the mummy, so really the child (viewer) is seeing the adventure through the mummies eyes, so in fact the child becomes my character and the character reperesents the child's imagination.
list of things about the character of the mummy:
easily recognisable figure, pretty much all school age children know what a mummy is, they are represented in many children's series and they learn about them at school etc.
The character has no real features, so all kids can identify with it, you can't see if it is a boy or girl, black or white, red-headed etc so the viewer is drawn into the animation and not bogged down with the main character. Below are my character concepts and designs for my final character.
